Fatima Sana nominated for ICC award

Fatima Sana, the captain of Pakistan’s women’s cricket team, has been honored as the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for April 2025, in recognition of her remarkable performance in the World Cup qualifier. Her unwavering contributions with both bat and ball were pivotal in Pakistan’s unblemished run throughout the tournament, culminating in their effective qualification for the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup in India.

Sana topped the bowling charts for her team, taking 12 wickets at an average of just over 12, while maintaining an economy rate under 4. One of her most impactful spells came against Scotland, where she picked up 4 wickets for only 23 runs, effectively sealing Pakistan’s win.

Her impact wasn’t limited to the ball—Sana also made valuable runs down the order. She scored a total of 103 runs during the tournament, including an unbeaten 62-run knock against Thailand that showcased her ability to anchor innings under pressure.

She is being nominated for the prestigious monthly ICC award for the first time. If successful, she would be the first Pakistani woman to receive the honor since Sidra Ameen in November 2022, highlighting her rising stature in international cricket.

The ICC will announce the winner after combining votes from its expert panel and global fans.
