“Ex-PML-N leaders Miftah Ismail and Shahid Khaqan launch new party ‘Open for all'”

Former PML-N leaders Miftah Ismail and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi officially launched a new party named Awaam Pakistan on Saturday, declaring it “open for all” to join.

The leaders had long proposed creating a new political entity to help the country overcome its ongoing crises. Last month, Awaam Pakistan made its initial appearance on the political scene when a video was posted on the party’s X account with the tagline ‘Awaam Pakistan: Badlein ge nizam’ (People of Pakistan: We will change the system).

The video, which showed a series of disheartened citizens asking questions about various national issues, was reshared by both Ismail and Abbasi.

Today, the party was officially launched.

Speaking at the launch event in Islamabad, the former finance minister outlined the party’s vision to provide equal economic opportunities for all Pakistanis. He emphasized that Awaam Pakistan would reject “hereditary politics” and the notion of a “messiah.”

“If you believe that we have the right to move forward […] then join us. We will stand with you and rebuild Pakistan,” Ismail stated.
