Elon Musk unveils Grok-3 AI chatbot to compete with ChatGPT and DeepSeek

Elon Musk’s xAI business created Grok-3, a chatbot geared to compete in the AI market. Musk called Grok-3 “scary smart,” with advanced reasoning and ten times the computational capability of its predecessor. The chatbot will initially be available to X Premium+ subscribers, then to others.

Musk emphasised Grok-3’s truth-seeking, especially when it threatens political correctness, during the introduction. Grok-3 avoids errors by using synthetic data and self-correcting methods, unlike existing AI tools.

The new chatbot competes with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and China’s DeepSeek. Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but quit after three years, setting up a rivalry with CEO Sam Altman. Their competition grew when OpenAI’s ChatGPT received global exposure, leaving Musk out.

China’s DeepSeek launched its affordable, high-performing R1 chatbot last month, increasing competition. Musk trusts Grok-3’s performance in this volatile space.

Grok-3, xAI’s flagship product, was developed as Musk expanded his tech portfolio while addressing ethical questions about his intimate links to the Trump government. These links raise concerns about potential conflicts of interest, especially since Musk influences AI policies.

Musk continues to push AI advancement, making Grok-3 a powerful chatbot competitor. The Grok-3, ChatGPT, and DeepSeek AI war has begun.
