Eid Al-Fitr in Pakistan likely on March 31, says SUPARCO

Pakistan’s Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has forecasted that Eid Al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, is likely to be observed on Monday, March 31, 2025. The Shawwal crescent moon, which signals the conclusion of Ramadan, is expected to be visible on March 30, leading to a 29-day fasting period this year.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Pakistan’s central moon sighting body, will officially confirm the moon sighting. The determination of the Shawwal moon involves both astronomical calculations and traditional observations, considering factors like the moon’s age, its angular distance from the sun, and visibility conditions.

Muslims traditionally seek the crescent moon shortly after sunset on the 29th day of Ramadan. If sighted, the next day is declared the first of Shawwal, commencing the Eid Al-Fitr celebrations.
