Sources said the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) will design next year’s development budget on June 2.
Sources stated Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal would lead the crucial meeting.
APCC will include representatives from all federal ministries and four provinces. The committee will likely approve the PSDP for the upcoming fiscal year.
APCC advises the NEC on macroeconomic and development framework.
The Ministry of Finance plans to give the PSDP Rs952 billion, sources say. The Ministry of Planning has received suggestions from various ministries and divisions to provide Rs2,900 billion for PSDP. Meanwhile, the planning minister asked Rs1,650 billion for PSDP.
The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led NEC will approve the development budget.
The APCC will also approve the following fiscal year’s GDP growth target. The next NEC meeting date is unknown.
On Tuesday, June 10, after Eid ul Adha, the federal government will release its fiscal budget.
As Eid ul Adha falls on June 7 and 8 (Saturday and Sunday), sources say June 9 (Monday), the third day of Eid, will have to be proclaimed a working day to accommodate vital economic procedures.
The NEC meeting and Economic Survey 2025 publishing are on the same day.
Meanwhile, Federal Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal denied budget delays and said the budget will be delivered on June 10.
