CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif opens new pediatric block at Mayo Hospital

In alignment with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of enhancing pediatric care, Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb inaugurated a newly built pediatric block at Mayo Hospital, featuring advanced healthcare facilities for children.

The inauguration was attended by Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, Mayo Hospital Coordinator Hafiz Mian Nauman, and Punjab Assembly Member Sania Ashiq.

The new block, which cost PKR 350 million, boasts modern surgical capabilities and medical equipment. It includes a four-story structure that expands the number of wards and increases bed capacity from 50 to 80.

Maryam Aurangzeb toured the new block, inspecting the healthcare services provided.

Established in 1871, Mayo Hospital is the oldest and largest medical facility in Pakistan. It has grown from 300 beds at the time of independence to a current capacity of 2,399 beds, as noted by Maryam Aurangzeb. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is leading a major initiative to modernize healthcare across Punjab, focusing on improving women’s and children’s health. Her goal is to transform Punjab into a model province in education, healthcare, public service, infrastructure, environment, and governance.
