CJP Afridi reformed the Case Management Committee and became chairman with other top judges and court staff. This group will streamline case management and speed up justice.
Five Supreme Court justices oversaw specialised courts nationwide. Justice Musarrat Hilali will oversee Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs), while Justices Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan, Hashim Khan Kakar, and Salahuddin Panhwar will oversee Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh courts. Islamabad special courts will be led by Justice Aamer Farooq.
To improve judicial performance in model courts, Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad and other justices will lead a distinct team of judges. IT and archives committees were redesigned with essential members to better their functions.
Chief Justice Afridi improved administrative and appeals management. Certain judges handle civil and criminal appeals, tax matters, and pleading amendments. Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim oversees Supreme Court and former judge security.
The SC buildings committee, which maintains court assets, was also reformed. A law clerkship programme committee now handles judicial clerk appointments.
The dissolving of a committee overseeing staff clothes signals a shift in priorities. These improvements are crucial to strengthening Pakistan’s highest court’s structure and operations.
