Champions Trophy 2025: Karachi traffic and parking plan revealed

The traffic police in Karachi have unveiled a comprehensive plan to aid spectators and commuters as the city prepares to host matches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan will play host to an ICC event for the first time since the Cricket World Cup of 1996 at this competition, which begins on February 19 and continues until March 9. Four cities—Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Dubai—will host matches.

The first of three matches at Karachi’s National Stadium will take place today, with the defending champions Pakistan taking on the New Zealanders. Authorities are implementing plans to ensure seamless traffic flow on match days in anticipation of the big crowds that are expected.

Sir Shah Suleman Road will remain open, according to officials, but certain routes will be closed due to heavy traffic. At the National Coaching Centre, Expo Centre, and China Ground, there are designated parking areas for fans. These parking slots will be directed to spectators traveling from Karsaz via the flyover. From Karsaz to the stadium and from Millennium to New Town, heavy trucks will be limited in the vicinity of the stadium.

Fans should park in the allocated areas only, as there will be penalties for vehicles parked on roadways or service lanes. Spectators can enter the stadium through designated gates; VIP vehicles can use gate 8. We restrict cars with compressed natural gas cylinders to ensure safety. There will be no change to the flow of traffic around the stadium as gates open three hours before each play.

There are eight teams competing this year, with Pakistan looking to defend their 2017 championship. National Stadium, Gaddafi Stadium, and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium—the three most important venues in the nation—were all upgraded to provide first-rate amenities. The tone is set for an intriguing Champions Trophy season ahead as today’s match begins at 2 PM PST.
