India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially closed its probe into the tragic death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, ruling out any evidence of foul play. The investigation, which lasted nearly four years, has concluded that no criminal charges can be brought against any of the individuals previously questioned, including actress Rhea Chakraborty and her family.
The CBI’s closure report, submitted in court, states that there is no proof to support allegations of abetment to suicide or financial exploitation. This decision comes after months of intense media scrutiny and multiple legal battles.
Following the announcement, Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik shared messages expressing relief, while some Bollywood celebrities, including Dia Mirza, demanded apologies from media outlets that had sensationalized the case.
