BYD accelerates Pakistan’s EV adoption with vehicle deliveries

BYD, the world’s largest manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs), has commenced vehicle deliveries in Pakistan, aiming to deliver up to 100 units within the first 48 hours of operations. This initiative is part of BYD’s collaboration with Mega Motor Company (MMC) to promote sustainable mobility in the country.

Deliveries have begun in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, with MMC establishing BYD Experience and Care centers in these cities. Anticipating high demand for NEVs, BYD and MMC plan to expand to a total of 15 centers across Pakistan by the end of 2025.

Lei Jian, BYD Pakistan’s country head, expressed optimism about the company’s contribution to Pakistan’s green development journey through its NEVs and advanced technologies.

This development aligns with global trends toward electrification, with projections indicating that up to 50% of all vehicles purchased in Pakistan by 2030 will be electrified in some form.

BYD’s commitment to building a robust EV infrastructure, including a nationwide charging network, is expected to alleviate range anxiety—a common concern among EV drivers—and foster sustainable mobility across Pakistan.

The company’s investment in Pakistan is seen as a significant opportunity, with potential plans to make the country a hub for right-hand drive EVs for export to various markets.

BYD’s strategic initiatives are poised to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Pakistan, contributing to environmental sustainability and economic growth.
