BYC holds province-wide rallies against arrest of Dr Mahrang Baloch and others
Workers and supporters of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) staged protest rallies across various parts of Balochistan on Sunday, condemning the arrest of Dr Mahrang Baloch, Beebu Baloch, and other BYC leaders.
The BYC leadership had called for demonstrations in at least 20 towns and cities, including Quetta. However, no rally could be held in Quetta, where a heavy police presence was deployed by the local administration, preventing BYC members from taking to the streets.
Protests were successfully held in areas such as Pansi, Turbat, Gwadar, Noshki, Kalat, Mastung, Khuzdar, Hub, Bela, Dalbandin, Sibi, Kharan, Jiwani, and others. Protesters marched through the streets holding placards and banners inscribed with their demands. They chanted slogans against the government and called for the immediate release of Dr Mahrang and other detained BYC activists.
Meanwhile, the sit-in protest by the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) over the arrests has entered its 16th consecutive day.
