BIONIKS, a Pakistani startup specializing in orthotics and prosthetics, has become the first from the country to receive the prestigious Zero Project Award 2025. Founded in 2016, BIONIKS has sold approximately 700 prosthetics, utilizing artificial intelligence and 3D scanning to create customized designs.
The Zero Project Award is an international accolade recognizing innovative solutions that promote the rights of persons with disabilities. BIONIKS was among 77 winners selected from 522 global nominations, honored for its contributions to advancing the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
In January, BIONIKS launched a mobile AI-powered limb factory in Gaza to provide customized prosthetic limbs to amputees. The company gained international attention in 2021 when it created a multi-grip bionic arm for a four-year-old, making him the youngest recipient of such a prosthetic limb.
