Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari advocates for peace amid rising India-Pakistan tensions

Speaking during a National Assembly session, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari reiterated that Pakistan is a nation committed to peace and justice, not hostility. His remarks came amid heightened tensions following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, which resulted in 26 casualties. India has blamed Pakistan for the incident—an accusation Islamabad strongly denies.

Bilawal stated that Pakistan has long suffered from terrorism and remains one of the countries that have paid the highest price fighting it. He emphasized that Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts are rooted in improving access to education, strengthening the economy, and building national unity, not in promoting violence.

Taking aim at India’s actions in Kashmir, Bilawal accused New Delhi of perpetuating state-sponsored oppression under the guise of anti-terror operations. He argued that genuine peace requires addressing the underlying causes of extremism and warned against seeking only military solutions.

He extended a call for dialogue, inviting India to engage in meaningful talks and cooperation. According to him, Pakistan seeks to protect its sovereignty and freedom, not wage wars. Bilawal made it clear that Islamabad’s intention is to pursue regional stability through diplomacy and mutual respect—not conflict.
