Aqib Javed takes blame for Pakistan’s early exit from Champions Trophy

Pakistan’s head coach, Aqib Javed, has taken full responsibility for the team’s early elimination from the ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan hosted for the first time since 1996. The tournament saw Pakistan lose crucial matches against New Zealand and arch-rivals India, leading to their premature exit.

In a press conference ahead of Pakistan’s final group match against Bangladesh, Aqib acknowledged the team’s shortcomings, particularly the inability to post competitive totals on batting-friendly pitches. He emphasized the need for consistency in both player performance and administrative policies within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Despite the disappointing outcome, Aqib cautioned against making hasty decisions regarding player selections and coaching staff. He highlighted the importance of maintaining stability and developing long-term strategies to enhance the team’s performance in future tournaments.

The final group match against Bangladesh faces the threat of a washout due to persistent rain in Rawalpindi, potentially concluding Pakistan’s challenging campaign on a damp note.
