Apple is set to introduce a significant design overhaul across its operating systems—iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16—later this year. This update aims to refresh various interface elements, including icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons, to enhance user experience and consistency across devices.
The redesign draws inspiration from visionOS, the operating system used by Apple’s Vision Pro VR headset, incorporating circular icons and translucent panels. This marks the most substantial change for Macs since macOS Big Sur and for iOS since iOS 7.
Alan Dye, Apple’s Vice President of Human Interface Design, is overseeing this initiative. The new design is expected to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
In addition to visual changes, Apple continues to develop “Apple Intelligence,” an AI-powered feature introduced with iOS 18. While many AI functionalities have been launched, the updated Siri, capable of autonomous app usage, is anticipated to roll out in the coming year.
