After a social media post, Swabi journalist receives FIA notification.

The vice-president of Swabi Press Club has been notified by the cybercrime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency in Peshawar for an allegedly insulting post on social media.

Arriving here on Friday, the journalist Mohammad Ayub informed that he had got the notification and will shortly be visiting the FIA office in Peshawar.

The deputy director’s cybercrime center’s office has sent a notice of attendance.

According to the notice Dawn received, the FIA Cybercrime Centre in Peshawar is investigating a complaint about an accusation of a crime against the dignity of a natural person.

“Therefore you are directed to appear in person to record your version in your defence at FIA Cybercrime Centre, Peshawar, within one week after receiving this letter, along with your original CNIC in interested of justice for fair trial process.”

Should non-appearance arise, a case will be registered and the arrest will be made under reference to the notice stated.

Ayub added, meantime, that he had gone over the notice with Salim Khan Advocate, Asfandyar Khan Advocate, Mohammad Ishfaq Advocate, and lawyer.

He claimed to be a skilled journalist and understood how he could carry out his obligation in close proximity to the government, therefore bridging the divide between the people and the authorities.

The president of the press club, Jalil Ahmad Khan, declared concurrently that they would completely support Mr. Ayub in his legal fight.

Sources in the police department said on Friday that the security of important seminaries and mosques in the district, where large Eidul Fitr events are anticipated to take place, has been strengthened.

They said that the general state of the province had led to unprecedented security measures adopted to safeguard the people’s life and property.

According to the Eid security plan, round-the-clock guarding of all the entrance and exit points would be provided.
