Afiniti expands AI operations to boost Pakistan’s tech sector

An American artificial intelligence firm, Afiniti, is set to increase its presence in Pakistan, enhancing job prospects in the region. The company, established in 2005, operates globally in industries such as healthcare, telecommunications, and banking. Around 80% of its support team is already based in cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, playing a vital role in its services across North America and Europe.

During a meeting with Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Afiniti’s CEO, Jerome Vaughan Kapelus, highlighted the high caliber of Pakistani engineers and tech professionals. He expressed satisfaction with the recruitment experience and discussed topics like taxation and expanding the business further in Pakistan.

Pakistan is steadily advancing in AI innovation, supported by programs like the National Center for Artificial Intelligence and growing AI applications in sectors such as healthcare and finance. Despite hurdles like limited resources, the country’s interest in AI technology is growing, with startups and businesses exploring automation and data-driven solutions.

Aurangzeb assured the government’s support for Afiniti and ongoing efforts to build a business-friendly environment in the IT sector. The government is also working on other groundbreaking tech initiatives like blockchain integration to modernize its financial system.

This collaboration marks a promising step toward strengthening Pakistan’s position in the AI landscape and fostering public-private partnerships for long-term growth.
