The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) is calling on scientists, researchers, and students to submit proposals for experiments to be conducted during the nation’s inaugural human spaceflight mission. This initiative offers a unique opportunity for Pakistani innovators to contribute to space science by designing experiments suitable for the microgravity environment aboard the Chinese Space Station (CSS).
SUPARCO emphasizes that proposed experiments should be original, cost-effective, lightweight, and executable within a week in microgravity. They should align with the CSS’s research priorities and support sustainable development goals. Areas of particular interest include agriculture and medical sciences, where microgravity conditions could yield groundbreaking insights.
The CSS orbits Earth at an altitude of approximately 380 km, completing an orbit every 92 minutes at a speed of about 7.7 km/sec. It offers advanced research facilities across various scientific domains, including life sciences, biotechnology, fundamental physics, fluid dynamics, material science, and astrophysics.
Pakistan’s first astronaut is scheduled to embark on this historic mission by the end of 2026, following the completion of rigorous training. SUPARCO believes that findings from selected experiments could lead to publications in high-impact journals, patent filings, and the development of commercial products for space applications, thereby contributing to socio-economic development.
The deadline for experiment submissions is April 30, 2025. Detailed information on available facilities, research categories, and the submission process can be found at:
This initiative marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s space exploration journey, providing the scientific community and emerging engineers a platform to make lasting contributions to the field.
