Shahzad and Momal Sheikh reflect on stardom and struggles

Shahzad Sheikh and Momal Sheikh, children of veteran actor Javed Sheikh, have made names for themselves in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Despite growing up in a renowned film family, both acknowledge that success comes from personal effort rather than inheritance.

During a Ramazan special hosted by Danish Taimoor and Rabia Anam, Shahzad highlighted the challenges of being a “star kid.” He admitted that while having a famous father provided an entry point, acting itself is a personal journey. “You might get a platform easily, but you can’t learn acting from your parents. Success depends on your own struggles,” he said, crediting Javed Sheikh for instilling a strong work ethic.

Momal revealed that acting was never part of her plan until her husband, Nadir, encouraged her to audition for a sitcom. “I asked him to talk to my father because acting had never crossed my mind before,” she shared.

Both emphasized the importance of humility, with Shahzad admitting that arrogance doesn’t come naturally to him. Host Danish Taimoor attributed this grounded nature to Javed Sheikh, who remains humble despite decades of stardom.

Meanwhile, Javed Sheikh himself appeared on another Ramazan transmission, recalling a difficult phase in 2000 when he faced career setbacks and financial struggles. “People said, ‘Javed Sheikh is finished.’ But I never stopped going to the studio,” he shared. His resilience paid off when he later secured a major film deal that turned his career around.

His story, along with his children’s experiences, reinforces the idea that in showbiz, legacy opens doors, but hard work keeps them open.
