The Sindh Assembly’s fact-finding committee, led by Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah, has uncovered significant irregularities within the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) concerning the recent first-year examination results. The investigation revealed mismanagement in assessment procedures, record-keeping, and the issuance of mark sheets, leading to unfair treatment of students.
In response, the committee has recommended awarding grace marks to affected students:
- Physics: 15% additional marks
- Chemistry: 20% additional marks
- Mathematics: 15% additional marks
Minister Sardar Ali Shah emphasized the necessity of reforming Karachi’s education boards, citing a history of malpractices over the past eight years. He asserted that the inquiry committee has the authority to identify and recommend actions against those responsible for these discrepancies.
The minister also highlighted the need for a centralized system to oversee board operations, aiming to prevent future irregularities and ensure a fair examination process for all students.
