Lahore deploys female cycle squads to enhance Eid shopping security

In an unprecedented move, Lahore’s police department has introduced female cycle squads to bolster security for Eid shoppers during the final ten days of Ramadan. This initiative aims to prevent street crimes and address harassment incidents in bustling markets and commercial areas.

Authorities have identified 92 crime hotspots, deploying 1,000 male officers alongside female personnel. The strategy includes plainclothes officers patrolling to discreetly monitor and deter criminal activities.

Enhanced surveillance measures encompass 226 checkpoints at sensitive locations, synchronized bank patrols to prevent robberies, and the use of night vision equipment and drone technology for nighttime monitoring. Specialized units like the Elite Force and Dolphin Squad have intensified patrols in key areas to ensure public safety.

Lahore Operations DIG Faisal Kamran emphasized the commitment to providing a secure environment for families during the festive season, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities promptly.
