The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has unveiled a detailed Charter of Economy to address Pakistan’s economic challenges and focus on sustainable growth. Presented to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the charter aims to tackle economic instability and align policies to benefit the growing youth population.
Senator Noman Wazir Khattak outlined key proposals, including a restructuring of civil services in critical sectors such as energy, health, and finance, and promoting renewable energy solutions like solar and wind with capped wheeling charges. The recommendations also highlighted a stable exchange rate to boost exports, regional trade enhancement, and reforms in state-owned enterprise ownership through privatization or employee-led management.
The FPCCI stressed long-term investments, fair gas pricing for industries, progressive agricultural taxation, and digitalization. Additional proposals included upgrades to bankruptcy laws, governance improvements, and streamlined debt management. Finance Minister Aurangzeb praised the comprehensive effort, emphasizing the need for political cooperation to achieve shared economic objectives.
