Government resolved to provide young people IT, artificial intelligence, skills.

The prime minister stated on Monday that the government will provide every facility conceivable to information technology firms so they satisfy the export goal of $25 billion.

These opinions were voiced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in front of a four-member American delegation. It was spearheaded by Jerome Kapelus, CEO of IT business Afiniti, according to a Prime Minister’s Office press release.

The prime minister commended Afiniti’s desire in investing in Pakistan’s IT industry and advised the company to open a world-class call centre for its customers here.

He told the group he was personally supervising initiatives to prepare the gifted young people of the nation with advanced technical skills like IT, artificial intelligence, and other technologies.

Attending the conference were IT minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja and top executives from divisions and ministries affected.

The delegation valued the knowledge of Pakistan’s IT experts and their commitment to the growth of the industry.

According to Jerome Kapelus, more than 1,000 highly talented experts were working at Afiniti Pakistan and Pakistan’s IT industry was quite fit for investment.

He claimed further that Pakistani young people had great potential to help the IT industry and that Pakistan’s well-trained workforce was responsible for Afiniti’s success in the country.

Food stability

Chairing a conference on issues pertaining to the Ministry of National Food Security, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared the government’s will to provide all facilities to farmers thereby increasing agricultural output.

The prime minister stated young agricultural researchers from all throughout the nation should be involved for the development of the agriculture industry.

He directed quick and severe action against businesses engaged in the sale of inferior agricultural seeds.

To reduce foreign cash lost on imports, PM Shehbaz advised raising edible oil output.

He said the promotion of farm mechanisation across the country should be ensured in collaboration with provincial governments, the private sector, and other stakeholders.

About the output of fruits and vegetables, the prime minister underlined youth training for value addition and loan availability on simple terms.

He gave the quick fix for all problems involving the breakup of Pakistan Agriculture Supplies and Storage Corporation (Passco).

From farms to ports, the PM expressed pleasure with the formulation of a plan to digitize the whole supply chain for agricultural exports.

The conference was told that food safety was nearing completion and an authority to monitor agricultural trade was under development.

The HEJ Centre of Karachi University now houses a laboratory for agricultural commodities testing.

The conference was informed that to guarantee cooperation between the federal and provincial governments, a ministerial forum on agriculture has been established.

Drafts of national policy pertaining to organic food, agricultural biotechnology, and seeds are under different levels of approval.
