KP CM adds free drug rehab to Sehat Card program

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur announced that drug rehabilitation services would soon be included in Pakistan’s Sehat Card health insurance program. The move aims to provide free treatment to drug addicts, helping them regain healthier lives and reintegrate into society.

Speaking at a ceremony held in Peshawar, the Chief Minister celebrated the successful rehabilitation of over 1,200 individuals, including women and minors, under the latest phase of the Drug-Free Peshawar initiative. This program, funded with Rs 320 million, treated addicts not just from KP but also from other provinces and even Afghan nationals.

The initiative began in 2022, and over 3,600 addicts have been treated in its three phases so far. CM Gandapur emphasized the government’s commitment to building a welfare state that supports its citizens, regardless of their background or location.

The Chief Minister urged communities to stand against drug traffickers while promising government backing. He also praised the business community for offering jobs to rehabilitated individuals, enabling them to lead responsible, productive lives.

The Sehat Card’s new inclusion of drug rehabilitation aligns with efforts to combat addiction while focusing on nationwide welfare and equality.
