Mehwish Salman Ali: Leading AI innovation from Pakistan to the Middle East

Mehwish Salman Ali, a Karachi-born entrepreneur, has been making significant strides in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), aiming to bridge technological gaps between Pakistan and the Middle East. With a degree in genetics from the University of Karachi in 2007, Ali transitioned to the information technology sector in 2008 due to limited opportunities in her initial field.

In 2012, after moving to Dubai, she founded the 3wOgle Group of Companies, offering web-based IT services. Her entrepreneurial journey continued with the establishment of Data Vault in Pakistan, the country’s first woman-led, solar-powered, quantum-encrypted data center specializing in autonomous AI systems.

Ali’s participation in the International Digital Cooperation Forum (IDCF) in Jordan, alongside Pakistan’s Minister for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, provided a platform to showcase Pakistan’s advancements in AI. She emphasized the concept of “borderless technology” to attract foreign direct investment, particularly from the Middle East.

Highlighting AI’s potential, Ali noted its estimated contribution of about $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030. She advocates for AI-friendly policies to enhance Pakistan’s share in this burgeoning sector.
