Google wallet launched in Pakistan

According to Google, Google Wallet launched in Pakistan on Wednesday.

The statement claims Google Wallet makes payments safer, easier, and more convenient. It supports digital loyalty cards and boarding passes. Start by downloading the app from Google Play.

As more Pakistanis use digital payments, Google Wallet offers a secure, seamless, and effective method to shop, travel, and pay, said Farhan Qureshi, Google Pakistan’s Country Director.

He continued, “It will enable Pakistanis to tap-and-pay in stores, check out seamlessly online, and easily access their boarding passes when traveling.

“Google Wallet keeps everything safe, wherever they go. More importantly, this launch would promote financial inclusion in Pakistan and create economic opportunities for everybody, Qureshi said.

This milestone reinforces Google’s commitment to Pakistan and our belief in its digital future and potential.

Bank AlFalah, Bank of Punjab, Faysal Bank Noor, HBL, Jazzcash, Meezan Bank, and UBL cardholders can link their cards to Google Wallet and pay with Android or Wear OS devices wherever contactless payments are allowed starting today.

Soon, Allied Bank, easypaisa Digital Bank, JS Bank, and Zindigi users can link their cards to Google Wallet. Google Wallet cards can be used online or in-app at merchants.

With Google Pay integration, PayFast will offer Onic, Gul Ahmed, Sana Safinaz, J., and KE online businesses.

Google Wallet can store and access Batik Air and Thai Airways boarding passes as well as payment cards. With Google Wallet boarding cards, travelers will be advised of departure time and gate changes for a smooth airport experience.

While abroad, they can tap and pay securely with Google Wallet without a card.

Google Wallet will automatically display eligible credit and debit cards saved to a user’s Google account. Simply follow the on-screen instructions to enable contactless payments.

A user must press “Add a card” in the carousel at the top of the page, review and accept the issuer’s terms and conditions, then complete verification to add a new card. Tokenizing the card prepares it for Google Wallet.

Bookme.pk customers can add bus, train, and event tickets, while Sastaticket.pk users can store boarding passes to Google Wallet.

Boarding passes, bus, train, and event tickets can be added to Google Wallet.

Privacy and security are Google Wallet’s main priorities, “offering industry-standard tokenisation to keep transactions safe”.

Google Wallet has a device-specific token card number and a dynamic security code that varies with each transaction.

Screen lock protection restricts Wallet access to the user, and banks require verification before adding a card.
