Pakistan anticipates significant reduction in petrol prices

Pakistan is poised to implement substantial cuts in petroleum product prices over the next fortnight, driven by declining international oil prices. Projections indicate a potential decrease of Rs13 to Rs15 per litre for petrol and up to Rs11 per litre for diesel.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is preparing a summary of these proposed adjustments, which will be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval. Upon endorsement, the Ministry of Finance will issue an official notification to enact the new pricing.

This anticipated reduction follows a modest decrease earlier this month, where petrol prices were reduced by Rs0.50 per litre, setting the price at Rs255.63 per litre, and high-speed diesel saw a Rs5.31 per litre cut, bringing it to Rs258.64 per litre.

The expected price cuts aim to provide economic relief to consumers and industries, reflecting the government’s commitment to adjusting domestic fuel prices in line with global market trends.
