1. Overcoming Mobility Restrictions

Many women in Pakistan cannot work in traditional office settings due to family responsibilities, social norms, or safety concerns. Women-led businesses in Pakistan thrive on social media, allowing them to work from home while managing household duties.

2. Low Investment and High Flexibility

Empowering Initiatives: Meta’s SheMeansBusiness Program

Recognizing these challenges, various initiatives have been launched to support women entrepreneurs. One notable example is Meta’s (formerly Facebook) SheMeansBusiness program. Launched in Pakistan in 2018, this initiative aims to empower women by providing digital skills training and resources. In collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the National Institute of Banking & Finance (NIBAF), and Demo, Meta initiated the second phase of this program in 2023. This phase aims to digitally empower 500 women entrepreneurs and other high-value small businesses through training, access to resources, and networking opportunities. Such initiatives play a pivotal role in equipping women with the necessary tools to succeed in the digital economy.
