In response to a critical shortage of essential medicines at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital, the Punjab Finance Department has released Rs 340 million for immediate procurement of necessary drugs. This decision follows Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s recent surprise visit to the hospital, where she personally addressed patients’ concerns regarding the unavailability of medications.
The allocated funds aim to alleviate the pressing scarcity of essential medicines and improve patient care at the hospital. Additionally, the finance department has authorized the reallocation of existing funds, initially designated for salaries of vacant positions, to further support the purchase of medicines.
