The Balochistan Assembly’s Standing Committee on Transport approved amendments to the Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1965 on Friday.
During the meeting, chaired by Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai, the committee reviewed the Provincial Motor Vehicles Balochistan (Amendment) Bill 2025, aimed at enhancing road safety, protecting infrastructure, and improving the transportation system.
The approved bill proposes a 50% reduction in overloading fines for public transport and goods carriers, even for repeated violations. It will now be presented in the Balochistan Assembly for final approval.
Mr. Achakzai expressed gratitude to the committee members for their valuable input. The meeting was attended by Sardarzada Faisal Jamali, Fazal Qadir Mandokhail, Barkat Ali Rind, Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Mir Liaquat Lehri, Assembly Secretary Tahir Shah Kakar, Special Secretary Abdul Rehman, and Transport Secretary Hayat Kakar.
