Heavy rain and snowfall relieve Hazara’s drought but disrupt daily life

Recent heavy rain and snowfall have ended a prolonged drought in Pakistan’s Hazara division, bringing much-needed relief to the region. However, these weather conditions have also caused significant disruptions, including road blockages and landslides, leading to transportation difficulties and posing risks to local communities. Authorities are actively working to clear the roads and ensure residents’ safety.

The abrupt weather shift has intensified the winter season, particularly in tourist destinations such as Naran, Saif-ul-Mulook Lake, Batakundi, and Jalkhad in Mansehra district, as well as Galyat and Thandyani in Abbottabad district, all experiencing continuous snowfall.

Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling and stay updated on weather forecasts and road conditions. For assistance or guidance, individuals can contact Rescue 1122’s toll-free helpline at 1122 or 09929310560.

While the precipitation has alleviated drought conditions, the associated challenges underscore the need for preparedness in managing such weather events.
