Seven planets to align in night sky for last time until 2040

On February 28, 2025, skywatchers will have the unique opportunity to observe a rare celestial event: the simultaneous visibility of seven planets in the night sky, an occurrence not expected to happen again until 2040.

This planetary alignment, often referred to as a “planet parade,” will feature Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. While Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn can be seen with the naked eye, viewing Uranus and Neptune will require the use of a telescope or high-powered binoculars.

The optimal time for observation is just after sunset, as some planets may set shortly thereafter. This event offers a remarkable spectacle for astronomy enthusiasts and casual stargazers alike, providing a chance to witness a lineup of our solar system’s neighbors in a single evening.
