Governor highlights campus safety and university reforms at PU convocation

Speaking at Punjab University’s 134th Convocation, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider stressed the importance of taking a zero-tolerance approach to drug usage and harassment on campus. He reiterated his commitment to fostering respectful and safe learning environments, particularly for female students, whom he described as being similar to his own daughters.

In order to discuss important university issues, such as the semester system’s flaws, the governor scheduled an upcoming vice chancellor’s meeting. He emphasized that developing one’s character is just as important as achieving academic success and challenged graduates to live up to the sacrifices made by their parents.

Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah, vice chancellor of Punjab University, reaffirmed this dedication to sustainability and safety. He presented bold plans to use solar energy to lower electricity bills and eradicate the university’s financial deficit in two years using a new financial model. In order to improve students’ educational experiences, digitalization initiatives and improved extracurricular activities were also emphasized.

During the ceremony, 1,087 graduates were given their degrees, and 254 medals were given to deserving undergraduate and MS/MPhil students. The occasion represented the university’s emphasis on innovation, high-quality instruction, and a safe campus environment for everyone.
