Pakistan to get up to $1.5B in IMF climate funding: Aurangzeb

Pakistan is most probable to get between $1 billion and $1.5 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of its climate finance initiative, according to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb’s announcement on Thursday.

After the ceremony, he spoke to the press and announced that a team from the International Monetary Fund will visit Pakistan on February 24 to talk about the climate fund. In March, they will do a second review.

Pakistan is properly satisfying all IMF terms, according to Aurangzeb. He pointed out that the country had a surplus for seven months in a row, even if there was a current account deficit in one.

He emphasized that in order to guarantee economic stability in the long run, structural reforms are necessary.
