Rizwan discusses Haris Rauf’s role in Champions Trophy 2025

Before Pakistan hosts the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for the first time in 29 years, wicketkeeper-batter and captain Mohammad Rizwan gave updates and observations.

Rizwan hailed the team’s accomplishments over the years despite many hurdles at a news briefing. With joy for the competition, he invited supporters nationwide to celebrate this historic moment.

Rizwan said renowned pacer Haris Rauf is in fantastic shape and recuperating well for the opener. He added, “Haris is fit and bowling with great rhythm,” but he didn’t guarantee Rauf’s first-match involvement. Match-day conditions and tactical considerations would impact the ultimate choice, Rizwan said.

He stressed team flexibility, saying the lineup, especially the batting order, may be changed as needed. Rizwan said Babar Azam would remain an opener.

The captain stressed the importance of older players in limiting errors and preventing opponents from gaining an edge. Rizwan acknowledged his delight in leading the team and confidence in their hard work and resolve to win.

“We play as one unit, and when we win, it’s a proud moment for all of us,” Rizwan said of captaining the team.

Pakistani fans anxiously await the Champions Trophy, aiming for excellent performances on home grounds.
