Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) is set to launch its indigenous electro-optical satellite, EO-1, on January 17.
EO-1 is designed to enhance disaster response, agriculture, urban planning, food security, and water management, significantly boosting Pakistan’s capabilities in natural resource monitoring and marking a key milestone in the nation’s space advancements.
This launch follows the deployment of PAKSAT MM1, Pakistan’s first multi-mission satellite, in May 2024 from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center. Orbiting 36,000 kilometers above Earth, PAKSAT MM1 is equipped with cutting-edge communication technology and has a 15-year lifespan, contributing to improvements in internet speed, e-commerce, and e-governance.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the launch, highlighting its role in advancing Pakistan’s communication infrastructure and driving economic growth.
