$375 million deals signed at Lahore expo strengthen Pakistan-China trade

Pakistan hosted the Health, Engineering, and Minerals Show (HEMS) 2025 in Lahore, where over 200 Chinese firms participated, securing agreements valued at $375 million. Held from April 17th to the 19th, the exhibition showcased Pakistan’s industrial prowess and abundant natural resources in an effort to entice investors from around the world.

The expo featured a Minerals Investment Pavilion to promote the country’s mineral wealth and encourage long-term partnerships. Notable deals included a $60 million transaction for quartz stone exports, a $45 million joint venture in medical device manufacturing, and an $80 million agreement for electric vehicle technology transfer.

Chinese delegations, led by Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, expressed interest in a range of Pakistani sectors, including copper, fluorite, gemstones, IT, and real estate. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the significance of this collaboration by hosting a dinner for 800 international guests, celebrating the growing economic ties between the two nations.

The recent international minerals summit and the attention given to Reko Diq’s undeveloped copper-gold reserves in Balochistan have further solidified Pakistan’s determination to attract foreign investment in order to stabilize its economy. With participants from countries like China, Canada, and Saudi Arabia, the initiatives aim to position Pakistan as a major player in global industries.

Pakistan and China’s commercial ties were strengthened at the Lahore exhibition, setting the stage for further expansion and stronger economic cooperation in the future.
