World Snooker Championship in India Uncertain Due to Visa Issues

New Delhi (Sports Desk): The World Snooker Championship, scheduled in India this November, faces uncertainty due to visa-related issues. The International Billiards & Snooker Federation has warned that if Pakistani players are not granted visas, hosting rights may be withdrawn from India.

Abdul Qadir, head of the Pakistan Billiard & Snooker Association, stated in an interview that the tournament could be moved to another country if Pakistani players cannot participate. He recalled that in 2024, similar visa problems prevented Pakistani players from joining a major event.

The championship is one of the most prestigious snooker tournaments, featuring top players from Asia and other regions. Recently, Pakistani players Mohammad Asif and Irfan reached the pre-quarterfinals of the Asian Snooker Championship, earning national recognition.

Abdul Qadir emphasized that decisions will follow Pakistani government guidelines after visa issues are resolved. Failure to address the problem could not only affect India’s reputation but also raise questions about the relationship between sports and politics.
