Washington (Monitoring Desk): The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is officially considering the possible purchase of Greenland, a move that has now been confirmed by the White House. According to officials, the issue is currently under discussion within U.S. policy circles.
Greenland, the world’s largest island, holds exceptional global importance due to its strategic geographical location and abundant natural resources. U.S. officials said that in view of this significance, Washington is evaluating whether there is a viable path to acquire Greenland from Denmark.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States is interested in holding preliminary-level discussions with Denmark on the matter. Some reports also suggest that U.S. officials are considering offering potential financial incentives to Greenland’s residents to improve their economic future and facilitate any possible administrative transition.
Officials clarified that no final decision has been announced so far. However, the proposal has sparked varied opinions globally, while Denmark has expressed reservations about any such move.
