Batting first in the knockout match at Eden Gardens, South Africa scored 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Marco Jansen starred for the Proteas with a blazing 55 not out. Other contributions came from Dewald Brevis (34), Tristan Stubbs (29), captain Aiden Markram (18), Quinton de Kock (10), David Miller (6), and Corbin Bosch (2), while Ryan Rickelton and Kagiso Rabada were dismissed without scoring.
For New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra, Matt Henry, and Cole McConchie took two wickets each, while Lockie Ferguson and James Neesham claimed one wicket apiece.
