T20 World Cup 2026: Pakistani Players Fined Rs 5 Million Each for Poor Performance

Lahore (Sports Desk): Due to subpar performance in the T20 World Cup 2026, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a fine of Rs 5 million on each national player.

Pakistan maintained winning chances after a tough opening match against Netherlands but failed to meet expectations in matches against India and Sri Lanka. The team progressed to the Super 8 stage by defeating Namibia; however, their match against New Zealand was washed out by rain, and a subsequent loss to England made reaching the semi-finals challenging.

Sources say the PCB has made it clear to players that there will be no leniency—good performance will be rewarded, while poor performance will incur fines. Players were informed of this decision after the defeat against India.

The annual earnings of national cricketers are in crores of rupees. An A-category player receives a monthly salary of Rs 4.5 million plus Rs 2.07 million from ICC revenue, while B-category players receive Rs 3 million monthly and Rs 1.5525 million from ICC shares.
