Ahmedabad (Sports Desk): India faced a major setback in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 as batter Ranko Singh left the team due to a family emergency.
His participation in Thursday’s Super 8 match against Zimbabwe is uncertain, and he also missed the team’s practice session at the MA Chidambaram Stadium yesterday.
Ranko Singh’s form in this edition has been underwhelming, scoring 6, 1, 11, and 6 runs in the group stage, remaining not out in the last two innings. India suffered a 76-run defeat against South Africa in the first Super 8 match, with Ranko failing to score.
In his absence, team management may consider Sanju Samson and Axar Patel as alternative options.
