Washington (Monitoring Desk): Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, a surprising diplomatic development has emerged as US media revealed that Iran and Israel exchanged important messages through Russia instead of direct contact, assuring each other of avoiding any pre-emptive military strikes.
According to the report, before the start of protest unrest in Iran in late December, Israeli officials sent a message to Tehran through Moscow stating that Israel would refrain from any military action against Iran as long as it was not targeted.
The message was conveyed at a time when fears of a possible regional war were rapidly escalating. However, this back-channel diplomatic communication played a crucial role in preventing the situation from deteriorating further, the report added.
