Rawalpindi (Sports Desk): Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar openly criticized Pakistan’s performance following their defeat against India in the T20 World Cup 2026, highlighting the reasons behind the team’s poor showing.
During an Indian TV program, Akhtar sharply condemned the actions of the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, saying that appointing someone unfamiliar with cricket to lead the board inevitably leads to national team failures—comparable to giving an inexperienced person charge of a news channel.
He further criticized giving superstar status to players who lack match-winning ability or selecting bowlers who cannot complete their full quota of 10 overs, calling such decisions disastrous. Akhtar added that placing irresponsible and incompetent individuals in key positions is one of the biggest mistakes, and this, he believes, is why the team’s performance has weakened so dramatically.
