Kolkata (Sports Desk): In the seventh match of the T20 World Cup 2026, Scotland put up an impressive batting display against Italy, setting a challenging target of 208 runs for victory.
In the match being played at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Italy won the toss and opted to field first. Scotland made one change to their lineup, bringing Brad Wheal into the playing XI in place of Safyaan Sharif.
Batting first, Scotland scored 207 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted overs. George Munsey played a brilliant innings of 84 runs, while Brandon McMullen contributed 41 and Michael Jones added 37 runs to give Scotland a strong total.
For Italy, Ali Hasan, Grant Stewart, Thomas Draca, and JJ Smuts picked up one wicket each.
This match marks Italy’s first-ever appearance in an ICC mega event. The four-time FIFA World Cup champions have made their debut in a global cricket mega tournament.
Later today in the event, the second match will be played between Oman and Zimbabwe at 2:30 pm, while the third match will see Canada take on South Africa at 6:30 pm.
