Beijing (Monitoring Desk): China has called on the United States to immediately release Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that their detention constitutes a clear violation of international law and expressed serious concern over the action.
The ministry emphasized that the U.S. must ensure the personal safety of Maduro and his wife and release them without delay. China also urged the United States to halt any attempts to overthrow the Venezuelan government illegally and to resolve all issues through dialogue and negotiations.
This statement comes after U.S. forces reportedly detained President Maduro and his wife during a military operation in Venezuela and transferred them out of the country.
China described the operation as a violation of global law and warned that it poses a risk to peace and stability in the region.
