Lahore (Sports Desk): The details of the opening ceremony and inaugural match of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have been revealed.
PSL CEO Salman Naseer, speaking at a press conference on the occasion of the ownership change of the Sialkot Stallions, announced that the opening ceremony will take place on March 26 at Gaddafi Stadium. Following the ceremony, the defending champions Lahore Qalandars will face Hyderabad Kingsmen in the opening match.
The CEO added that the full PSL schedule will be released in the coming days. He also noted that the reconnaissance team has visited the Peshawar Stadium and necessary improvements are underway to enable some PSL matches to be played there.
Regarding financial matters, Salman Naseer clarified that the OZI Group had cleared all dues by the second week of January and their bank guarantee is with PSL. He dismissed any allegations against them as baseless, emphasizing that representatives were present at the press conference.
Commenting on the participation of dynamic young players like Gohar Shah, the CEO said their enthusiasm should be appreciated. On the question of an overseas final, he confirmed that one match will take place abroad either this year or next, with a final decision expected in a few days.
