Lahore (Sports Desk) With the beginning of a new era in the Pakistan Super League, proposed changes in players’ categories have surfaced, sparking significant interest among cricket fans. According to media reports, a list of suggested categories for local players ahead of the auction for the 11th edition of the PSL has been finalized.
Sources say that Islamabad United’s Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, and Naseem Shah remain in the Platinum category. Sahibzada Farhan has been placed in the Gold category, while Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Nawaz have been promoted from Diamond to Platinum. Azam Khan has been relegated from Diamond to Gold.
Karachi Kings’ Hasan Ali has been promoted from Diamond to Platinum, whereas Abbas Afridi has moved from Platinum to Diamond. Khushdil Shah and Aamer Jamal have been shifted from Diamond to Gold, while Arafat Minhas has moved from Gold to the Silver category. National Test captain Shan Masood remains in the Diamond category.
For Lahore Qalandars, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and Haris Rauf continue in the Platinum category. Salman Mirza has been promoted from Gold to Diamond, while Mohammad Naeem has moved from Emerging to Silver.
Peshawar Zalmi’s Babar Azam and Saim Ayub remain in the Platinum category, while Mohammad Haris and Mohammad Ali have been moved from Diamond to Gold. Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan also remains in the Platinum category, whereas Usama Mir and Iftikhar Ahmed have been shifted from Platinum to Diamond.
Additionally, Mohammad Hasnain has moved from Diamond to Gold, while Aaqib Javed has been promoted from Silver to Gold. Quetta Gladiators’ Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Amir remain in the Platinum category, while Abrar Ahmed has been promoted from Diamond to Platinum. Wasim Jr and Usman Tariq have been placed in the Diamond category, while Khawaja Nafi and Hasan Nawaz have been included in the Gold category.
It is worth mentioning that for the first time in PSL history, players will be selected through an auction instead of the traditional draft system, marking the beginning of a new and exciting phase for the league.
