New Delhi (Monitoring Desk): Indian authorities have confirmed two cases of the Nipah virus in the state of West Bengal, claiming that timely measures have prevented further spread of the virus.

According to the Indian Ministry of Health, after identifying the affected individuals, the surveillance system was strengthened, laboratory testing was conducted, and field investigations were completed, allowing authorities to contain the cases in time. The ministry did not provide further details about the patients.

Officials stated that the situation is being closely monitored, and all necessary public health measures have been implemented. According to the ministry, 196 contacts associated with the two cases were tested, all of whom returned negative results.
