New Delhi (Monitoring Desk): During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure, hate incidents targeting Muslims and other minorities have increased by 13 percent. According to a report by U.S.-based research group India Hate Lab, 1,318 hate incidents were reported against minorities in 2025, up from 1,165 in 2024 and higher than 2023 figures.
The report notes that most incidents occurred in BJP-ruled states. The period of April 22 to May 7, amid Pakistan-India tensions, saw the highest number of incidents, with 100 cases recorded.
India Hate Lab referenced statements from Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and other international human rights organizations, which highlighted a rise in mistreatment and hate incidents against minorities under Modi’s government. International human rights groups have also expressed concern over the increasing atrocities against minorities during this period.
